John was five and his sister nine when they were taken from their abusive mother. Asked about his experience, John says there has been one shining light–his case worker, Lisa–who always gave him the motivation to do more.
What has John learned in his lifetime of growing up in and out of care? Resilience. “I learned to be my own person. I learned to take care of myself.”
Today he says he wants to help kids like himself . . . kids whose lives have been tough.
