Thank You

for considering children, youth and families in need this holiday season

2020 Holiday Dreams Program

Here is how you can help make Holiday Dreams come true. During the holidays, our goal is to brighten the season by delivering necessities and gifts to those who have been referred to our Holiday Dreams program through their Halton Children’s Aid Society worker.

Anyone, an individual or group, wishing to contribute to the Holiday Dreams program may do so, with our thanks, by considering the following.

COVID-19 Considerations

During these difficult times, we will fulfill Holiday Dreams by ensuring every child and youth being served by the Halton Children’s Aid Society is able to enjoy the holiday season. To minimize the contact required to collect, sort and distribute tangible items and to ensure the safety of our clients, community partners, donors, volunteers and staff, we will focus on monetary and gift card donations ONLY.

We will Support YOU, while you support ‘our kids’

Host an Event!

Whether you are hosting a small, in-person gathering, a large virtual event or a fundraising bake sale, our staff and volunteer event consultants are on stand-by waiting to support you in your efforts. We have ‘tool kits’ ready with invitations and promotional templates, helpful hints, event ideas and ways to get your guests and attendees excited about taking part in helping to make Holiday Dreams come true. For more information, contact Lisa Janssen at 905.333.4441, x0704.

 Monetary Gifts

These are used to sustain the year-round programs offered to children and youth including traditional holiday gatherings. Of course this year these gatherings will be virtual. During the holiday season, we also use financial donations to provide gift cards for families so they may purchase necessities: food, warm clothes and holiday gifts. Additionally, our youth who are living independently feel more isolated and we make every effort to remind them they are cared for and have resources to connect with. Essentially, on a case-by-case basis, we provide items that any child, youth or family needs. Here are examples of what your donation can provide:

  • $25 = a stocking filled with treats;
  • $50 = a gift for a youth, warm clothing, winter boots;
  • $75 = a comfort kit—items for children, teens and young adults who may be separated from their families, providing immediate needs and comforting items to help during difficult transitions;
  • $100 = groceries for a small family;
  • $300 = groceries for a large family; or
  • $500 = Life Start Kits—provided to youth transitioning from foster care to independent living. Kits contain items needed to set up their new home including their first meal.

Gift Cards

Gift cards give our children and youth the joy of selecting their own special items. They will be included in holiday stockings and special deliveries. Below are some gift card suggestions.

  • Pre-paid Visa and MasterCard
  • Walmart
  • Amazon
  • Giant Tiger
  • Grocery Stores
  • Uber
  • Skip the Dishes
