Board Of Directors
The Halton Children’s Aid Society Board of Directors is composed of 13-15 members elected for a three-year term. Board members are elected or appointed from the Society’s membership. Members who are interested in participating as a Director should submit a letter of interest to the Board Secretary.
Jason Barr was elected to the Board of Directors on June 15, 2016. He is the Director of Client Services and Program Development at the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Halton Region Branch.
Paul Bartu was elected to the Board of Directors on June 17, 2009 and currently holds the position of Board Chair. He spent his career working primarily with the Deaf community.
Steve Cranna was elected to the Board of Directors on June 16, 2010 and currently holds the position of Secretary-Treasurer. He is Director of Business Development and Government Relations in the durable medical equipment sector.
Rick Craven was elected to the Board of Directors on June 18, 2014. He is in his fourth term as Burlington’s Ward One City and Regional Councilor.
Emad Elsayed was elected to the Board of Directors on March 28, 2012 and currently holds the position of Vice Chair. Emad has over 30 years’ experience in the energy sector and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering.
Ken Kelertas was elected to the Board of Directors on June 17, 2015. Ken has a legal background and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990. He keeps busy with community involvement in the legal, charitable and education areas and is an avid soccer coach and hockey coach/trainer.
Hazel Lambert was elected to the Board of Directors on June 15, 2016. She served on the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Children’s Aid Society for eight years as Director, Vice Chairperson and Chairperson. She has 46 years in the education system in the positions of elementary and secondary school teacher, vice principal and principal.
Joan Lewis was elected to the Board of Directors on June 19, 2013 and is a Director-at-Large on the Executive Committee. She has extensive experience in the not-for-profit, government (municipal/regional) and health care sectors.
Marcus Logan was elected to the Board of Directors on June 17, 2015. Marcus is Supervisor, LGBTQ+ Education and Support Services at the Positive Space Network, a community collaborative offering LGBTQ+ inclusion and education initiatives in the Halton Region.
Ann Murray was elected to the Board of Directors on October 26, 2016. Ann has over 25 years of diverse financial and program management experience in the public sector.
Mike Reid was elected to the Board of Directors on March 28, 2012. Mike is Senior Director, North American Distribution for a global leader in business communications.
Brad Saunders was elected to the Board of Directors on March 28, 2012. Brad is a Regional Executive Director in the developmental services sector.
Joyce See was elected to the Board of Directors on June 18, 2014. Joyce is the Director and Chief Nursing Officer, Community Health Services with the Regional Municipality of Halton.
Terry Spearin was elected to the Board of Directors on June 18, 2014. Terry has been a consultant in the non-profit sector for 13 years.
Scott Waterhouse was elected to the Board of Directors on April 25, 2007 and is Past President of the Board of Directors and a Director-at-Large on the Executive Committee. Scott is a Senior Manager with one of Canada’s largest financial services companies.

Delegations to Board of Directors’ Meetings
Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be open to the public except in cases where matters are confidential and the meeting is deemed closed. Members of the public are required to inform the Board of their attendance not later than one business day in advance of the meeting. Members of the public attending the Board of Directors’ meeting are observers and are not to participate in the discussion of the meeting. Individuals or groups wishing to appear before the Board of Directors shall advise the Board Chair, in writing, no later than 4:30 pm on the Wednesday prior to the meeting.
